La registrazione del film ebbe luogo durante tre notti di concerti al Madison Square Garden di New York City, durante il tour di concerti della band negli Stati Uniti del 1973. Il film è stato presentato per la prima volta il 20 ottobre 1976, al Cinema I di New York e al Warner West End Cinema di Londra due settimane dopo.
